TITLE: Lacrosse Girls Player Development Manager
DEPARTMENT: Lacrosse Operations
REPORTS TO: Lacrosse Director
FLSA: Full-time; Hourly Wage – Non-Exempt
WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT
You have a growth mindset, excellent coaching skills and can drive performance based on developing lacrosse player skills and values that are used on and off the field, respect, hard work, excellence, enjoyment, and progress. You help us grow the youth feeder systems that drive our Girls Blue Star Academy. This position will work hand in hand with our Girls Lacrosse Director to lead and oversee all K-8th grade teams, coaches and programs that funnel through our youth pipeline into our Blue Star Academy. The Blue Star Academy is the premier lacrosse development program of choice in the St. Louis metro area and midwest region.
This position will direct and lead our growth and development programs at our facilities as well as in and around the St. Louis metro area by bringing organization, knowledge, passion, personality, and energy to spreading the fastest game on two feet to new players and families. This position will be the front door to the sport and our organization. This position will lead the introduction of proper fundamentals of the game to new and developing players, and with the ultimate goal of making them love the game. We also look for you to model good sportsmanship and values to our players.
Running this program will entail working with athletes ages 4 to 14 years old depending on the program (we field programs for HS/14U/12U/10U/8U/6U boys and girls). The Manager of Girls Player Development will be responsible for leading associated staff and making sure all coaches are teaching the correct and important aspects of the game to players, who will be coming in with different skill levels from brand-new to experienced.
In addition, expanding the reach of Lou Fusz Lacrosse youth and grassroots programming will also be expected. Introducing and developing Lou Fusz Athletic as THE name in Lacrosse to schools and other organizations; while cultivating relationships, developing groups for next steps and team construction, and scouting prospective individuals for our most competitive teams through conversion of player programming.
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy, Marketing & Operations
The Lacrosse Director of Girls Player Development will be responsible for the overall planning, development and oversight of LFA Lacrosse Youth Development programming as well as the Blue Star Academy, an elite lacrosse player development program including:
Strategy
- Oversee LFA Girls Blue Star Academy to ensure profitable margins and growth season over season and year over year
- Analyze, manage and grow the girls lacrosse development program including maintaining a detailed budget
- Establish an athlete development path for LFA Girls Blue Star Academy
- Create a player development program that offers mentorship, connections and advice to help athletes advance to the next level and gain visibility
Marketing
- Help oversee the creation marketing graphics and images consistent with the LFA brand
- Collaborate with the LFA Executive Director of Lacrosse and admins to ensure accurate entry and release of program and schedule information on social media, print and the LFA website
- Lead apparel and gear design, ordering, purchase and distribution
Operations
- Organize and coordinate coaching assignments for teams
- Organize tryouts and coordinate assignment of players to teams
- Manage registration and organization of programs in League Apps
- Coordinate travel logistics for teams and coaches
- Coordinate special events (i.e., camps, showcases tournaments, college games, high school nights, clinics)
- Work with the Executive Director of Lacrosse and admins for program specific field usage of sessions, programs and events
Coaching
- Coach 1-2 Blue Star Teams per season (spring, summer, fall, winter)
BLUE STAR COACH RECRUITMENT, ASSESSMENT, EVALUATION & MENTORSHIP
The Lacrosse Manager of Girls Player Development will help hire and staff all Girls lacrosse programs. The following expectations are designed to help ensure the programs are in line with the utmost quality and organization:
- Manage staff to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with LFA’s established standards and curriculum.
- Set expectations with each Coach and provide written program outlines and summaries to the Executive Director of Lacrosse
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Coaches to help them understand and apply LFA Lacrosse’s standards in an effective manner
- Observe Coaches, review evaluations with the Executive Director of Lacrosse and complete evaluation forms
- Address Coach conflicts (i.e. inability to attend), ensure Coach has found coverage, assist with coverage as needed utilizing LFA Coach Conflict Form
- Review LFA club policies and procedures with each Coach at least once per year, with updates as needed
- Assist with the enforcement of these policies and procedures noted in the LFA Coach Policies and Procedures Handbook
LFA LACROSSE BOARD & LEADERSHIP TEAM
As an integral part of the LFA Lacrosse Board & Leadership team, the Manager of Girls Development will be called upon to share insight, knowledge and recommendations about a variety of topics. Following is an overview of expectations:
- Respond promptly to such requests within 24-48 hours, unless otherwise specified
- Host preseason meetings with Coaches and Age Group Directors
- Attend status meetings with LFA Management / Staff when available
- Communicate with the LFA Executive Director of Lacrosse on a regular basis providing written summaries of issues and updates about teams and programs
- Promptly address issues or concerns escalated by players, parents, coaches or other members.
Performance Review:
1x in Spring & 1x in Winter
Salary:
TBD based on experience.
