Welcome to LFA Soccer
Hello! Lou Fusz Athletic (LFA) has something for everyone from recreational programs to competitive club-soccer teams. We've been a family-oriented club since 1992 when Lou Fusz Senior and Don Popovic started the first soccer teams as a non-profit 501(C)3 youth sports organization. Our goal is helping young athletes (K–12) learn the fundamentals of the beautiful game while developing into a well-rounded soccer player with an emphasis on becoming a more competitive club overall.
(Introductory) Little Lou's Soccer // Ages 3–5
The Little Lou's sessions are open to the public and are the perfect way to introduce your little kickers to the beautiful game. These sessions are used to help players become coordinated with a ball while playing fun and engaging games. Please CLICK HERE to learn more and register for one of our many sessions.
(Recreational) Rookies Program // Ages 5–12
The Seasonal Rookies Program(s) are open to the public If your child is interested in playing soccer or has never played before. These programs are designed to introduce the sport in a fun and safe environment while teaching the athletes what they need to know if they want to advance in soccer. (Advanced) Star Academy Program // Ages 5–8
Enjoying the Game. Natural movements (running, jumping, shuffling etc.) are all part of these players learning to understand their bodies within the game of soccer. All players will have a ball throughout training and begin to develop the balance and agility necessary to a stable foundation to grow in the game. Basic movements, touches, and control are taught through fun and engaging games. A strong emphasis is put on the individual ability of the player with a ball at their feet; with an introduction into team play at younger ages. (Competitive / Club) LFA Juniors // Ages 8–12
Fundamental Mastery. Teaching the fundamental techniques to be able to perform in a game occurs during this time period – the best in one’s career to acquire technique. Dominating opponents with 1v1 work is a continued focus, while learning in a team environment is the progression. Concepts of spacing, support, and defending in pairs & combinations to attack will begin during this developmental phase. Registration by invitation only from coach of a specific team. (Competitive / Club) LFA Futures // Ages 13–15
Application of Technique. At these ages players learn better how to apply the technique they have in the game. They understand consequences for good or bad execution and processing tactical decisions. Gamesmanship and understanding the nuances of the game and opponent and considered more seriously. Strategic decisions and how best to perform to get a result is prevalent in an environment that breeds competition. We push ourselves, and challenge our teammates to commit to improvement every day. (Competitive / Club) LFA Prospects // Ages 16–18
Competitive Stage. Polishing and improving a complete player comes through a focus on the whole, tactical / physical / mental / psychosocial. Players will have opportunities to take additional competitive steps with US Youth National Teams, MLS Academies, and opportunities abroad. Teams will continue to grow and compete on a regional and national scale, developing an appreciation for a goal oriented process. We will showcase our homegrown St. Louis talent for college scouts across the country and Midwest. Registration by invitation only from coach of a specific team. Soccer Camps & Training // Ages 5–18
LFA offers a number a soccer camps & training programs for youth players of all ages to help improve their skills and technical abilities outside of the team environment. We offer our Little Lou's Soccer program for the youngest players to start learning how to maneuver and understand their bodies with a ball at their feet. We also offer week long summer camps as well as specialized training for older ages like goalie specific training and technical/finishing sessions.
